Keto Diet just another diet pad ?!



The keto diet kept the internet curious this year — with so many endorsers including popular stars like Halle Berry, and the Kardashians love for this diet, and so do Silicon Valley tech workers, venture capitalists, and athletes such as LeBron James.



Keto diets put people into a fat-burning mode called ketosis by strictly limiting their sugar and carb intake, and getting their nutrients instead on butter, heavy cream, full-fat yogurt, leafy greens, vegetables, meat, and seafood.

So ano ba talaga ang "Ketogenic or just simply Keto diet " ?!

Brief history of keto diet :


Fasting and other dietary regimens have been used to treat epilepsy since at least 500 BC. To mimic the metabolism of fasting, the ketogenic diet (KD) was introduced by modern physicians as a treatment for epilepsy in the 1920s. For two decades this therapy was widely used, but with the modern era of antiepileptic drug treatment its use declined dramatically. By the end of the twentieth century this therapy was available in only a small number of children's hospitals. Over the past 15 years, there has been an explosion in the use, and scientific interest in the KD. In 1921, Rollin Turner Woodyatt reviewed the research on diet and diabetes. He reported that three water-soluble compounds, β-hydroxybutyrateacetoacetate, and acetone (known collectively as ketone bodies), were produced by the liver in otherwise healthy people when they were starved or if they consumed a very low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet.[10] Dr. Russell Morse Wilder, at the Mayo Clinic, built on this research and coined the term "ketogenic diet" to describe a diet that produced a high level of ketone bodies in the blood (ketonemia) through an excess of fat and lack of carbohydrate. Wilder hoped to obtain the benefits of fasting in a dietary therapy that could be maintained indefinitely. Keto diet for weight and body fat loss


The keto diet is actually simple and effective :

You have to eat mostly healthy fats (70 to 75 percent of your daily calories), enough protein (20 to 25 percent) and a very small amount of carbs (5 percent). This combo will put your body to burn fats as it's main source of energy and into nutritionalketosis

Limit your carb intake ( iwas kanin, mais, tinapay, pansit, kamote, patatas and other starchy foods). Sugar intake is also prohibited kasama dito ang mga softdrinks, fruit juices, or any sugary drinks and sweet fruits.

Sa umpisa mahirap dahil sa mga nakasanayan na nating pagkain tulad ng kanin na halos 2 hanggang tatlong beses nating kinakain sa loob ng isang araw ! Ang mabisang pamalit sa kanin ay gulay tulad ng pechay, petsay baguio, repolyo, cauliflower o anumang leafy veggies na available. 

Itlog ng manok, pato o iba pa ay mainam ng pagkain sa pagke-keto... Ito ay nagtataglay ng mataas na protina at taba habang nagtataglay ng napakababang carbs sa murang halaga.
Kumain ng sapat na karne, mas matabang parte ng karne mas mainam !

Makakabuting bumili ng coconut oil o olive oil bilang suplementa sa pangangailangan ng ating katawan sa taba(fats). Gumamit din ng mga healthy oils sa inyong pagluluto tulad ng coconut oil, at palm oil ; olive oils sa inyo veggie salad.  

Huwag hayaang magutom ang sarili, kumain ng sapat ! Tandaan mo di mo kailangang magutom sa keto diet... dahil kapag nakapag adjust na ang katawan mo at naging fat adapted na ito, madarama mo na madalas nakakalimutan mo ng kumain dahil madalang ka ng gutumin, ibig sabihin nito your body can now use your reserve energy(body fats) at di katulad ng rice ang kinakain mo, kakakain mo pa lang after a few hours gutom ka na namn at kailangang mag meryenda ! 

Di mo din kailangan ng punishing exercises kagaya ng napapanood natin sa tv para pumayat ! Actually pwedeng pwede ka ditong pumayat ng walang anumang exercise !

Keto diet : Expensive and hard to follow ?!



    Many have said that Keto diet is expensive and hard to follow, pero ito lang ang masasabi ko.. Keto diet need not be expensive ! and this diet is as easy as pie.

Keto diet is hard to follow !?

This diet is easy, just follow the Ketogenic Food Pyramid and your good to go.

    If your going keto just for shedding your extra pounds and improving your health, then you can never find anything like this ! Easy, no starving, no hunger  just eat as you feel satisfied. No caloric restrictions to take, No hard to follow and punishing exercises to do. Do your ordinary routine exercises and even while sleeping you are losing your body fats.
Just follow the Keto Food Pyramid.


Restrict your carbohydrates intakes to just 5% ! No rice or any food na gamit ay bigas tulad ng biko, suman, at mga katulad nito. Unli-rice is now thing of the past. Bawal na bawal ding kumain ng tinapay, sopas, spaghetti, pansit o anumang pagkain na ginamitan ng arina. Bawal din ang pagkain ng mais and most of all sugars and all sugary products like softdrinks, fruit juices, mango graham na usong uso ngayong summer at marami pang katulad nito. Tandaan : ang carbohydrates ay nagiging asukal pagpasok sa katawan ng tao !

Ang 5% na carbohydrates intake mo ay manggagaling sa mga low carb vegetables ! not on fruits because kasi most fruits contain high amount of sugars... at ang sugar is a big no no to keto diet.

Kung athlete ka o sport active ka, you can adjust your protein to 30% pero kung di naman just stick to the 25%. Your main food source will now comes from fats. Don't be afraid of fats. Fats are macronutrients needed by our body.

Keto diet is expensive !?

Coco MCT ? Caulirice ? Coco aminos ? Flaxseeds ? Sunflower seeds at marami pang iba...

Kailangan ba natin ang mga expensive na mga pagkain na ito para sa ating Ketogenic diet ???
Definitely NO !!!

Kung may pera ka go !
Pero para sa mga ordinaryo pinoy na butas ang bulsa katulad ko, di na uy !

So, ano ang ating pwedeng kainin ?!

Well, ano ano ba ang madalas sa ating hapag kainan at ano ano ba karaniwan laman ng ating ref ? Kung may ref kayo, hehehe, kami meron.

Itlog ! Very versatile food pwede sa almusal,tanghalian o hapunan ! Dito palang napakaraming keto friendly recipes kang magagawa. High in proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals ! Only 0.7g of carbohydrates.



Karne - baboy, manok o baka...  Isda ! (specially oil rich like salmon)

Gulay ! Go for low carb veggies, iwasan ang mga high carb veggies mostly yung tumutubo sa ilalim ng lupa.

  Green leafy vegetables katulad ng pechay, pechay baguio, cabbage, mustasa, dahon ng malunggay, alugbati at marami pang iba.
   Ampalaya, sitaw, patani(kidney beans), upo at marami pang iba.

Kung wala dito ang paborito nyong gulay just do some research using google. Just type your fav veggies then add nutrition and go !

Ano ano pa ba ang mga additional na kailangan at tandaan ?

Butter - very useful. Daming gamit. Pampa-yummy ng anumang lutuin. Also for your fats   requirement.
Coconut and olive virgin oil - for your additional fats requirement
Use Coconut oil for frying and cooking and avoid using cheap vegetable oils!
